Senior Master (Lakan Pito - 7. degree black belt)
Ask’s first experience with martial arts was training traditional karate and later aikido as a kid. In 1991 he came across Modern Arnis by coincidence and started training Pilipino martial arts under Grandmaster Thorbjørn Hartelius.
In 1995 Ask was promoted to Lakan Isa (1. Dan) in Modern Arnis/Kombatan and in 1997 he started the club Pilipino Fighting Systems Copenhagen, which is still active under the name Kombatan Copenhagen. In addition to Modern Arnis/Kombatan, Ask started to study Inayan Eskrima under Suro Emanual Hart in 2000.
In 2004, Ask was graduated to Master (Lakan Apat - 4. Dan) by Grandmaster Ernesto Presas Sr. and in 2023, he was promoted to Senior Master (Lakan Pito - 7. Dan) by Grandmaster Ernesto Presas Jr.
Numerous instructors and teachers have inspired Ask’s development within Pilipino martial arts over the years. In addition to GM Ernesto Presas Sr., GM Thorbjørn Hartelius, Suro Emanual Hart and GM Ernesto Presas Jr., key inspirations have been Datu Dieter Knüttel, Datu Tim Hartman, Dakilang Guro Jeff Espinous, GM Pat O'Malley, GM Hans Karrer, GM Jørgen Gydesen, GM Robert Castro and Emin Sabovic.
Ask lives in Copenhagen with his wife and two sons, Storm and Sne who both train kombatan arnis.
